The SKS Visa Roadmap

Detailed Step-by-Step Admission & Visa Process

  • Step 1: Document Auditing & University Application: We assess your SSC, HSC, or Bachelor’s transcripts alongside your English proficiency. We then submit your file to secure the official Letter of Acceptance from a recognized Malaysian university.
  • Step 2: EMGS Processing & Medical Declaration: Once the university issues your offer, you pay the EMGS (Education Malaysia Global Services) processing fee. Your digital application begins, and you must submit a pre-departure Health Declaration Form.
  • Step 3: Navigating the EMGS Tracker: We monitor your visa progress through the official percentage milestones:
    • 5% to 15% (Green): EMGS verifies your academic and health documents.
    • 32% (Green): EMGS Approval Letter is issued.
    • 35% to 70% (Green): Your file goes to the Malaysian Immigration Department for security clearance. Once cleared, the eVAL (Electronic Visa Approval Letter) is issued. This entire process typically takes 4 to 8 weeks, so applying 3 months before your intake is highly recommended.
  • Step 4: Tuition Fee & Single Entry Visa (SEV): After receiving the eVAL, you transfer your initial university tuition fees. You then submit your passport to the Malaysian High Commission in Dhaka or VFS Global to obtain your Single Entry Visa (SEV) sticker.
  • Step 5: MDAC Submission & Travel: Within 3 days of your flight to Kuala Lumpur, you must fill out the online Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) for airport immigration clearance.
  • Step 6: Post-Arrival Medical & i-Kad Issuance: Within 7 working days of landing, you must undergo a mandatory medical screening at an EMGS-approved clinic. Once you pass, your passport is endorsed with a multi-year Student Pass, and you receive your i-Kad (official biometric student ID).

FAQ

Got questions? Explore my FAQ section to find the information you need to help you get started on your journey to Malaysia from Bangladesh

Is IELTS mandatory for a Malaysian Student Visa?
Not always. While top-tier public universities generally require an IELTS (usually 5.5 - 6.0) or PTE score, many leading private universities accept a Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate from your Bangladeshi college or university as proof of English proficiency.
How much bank balance do I need to show from Bangladesh?
While EMGS does not publish one universal minimum, universities and the Malaysian embassy typically require you to demonstrate sufficient funds to cover your first year of tuition and living expenses. For Bangladeshi students, this usually means showing a steady bank balance of approximately BDT 8 to 12 Lakhs (around MYR 40,000) for undergraduate programs, or USD 6,000 to USD 7,000 for postgraduate programs. The funds should ideally be matured in the account for 3 to 6 months.
How long does the EMGS and eVAL process actually take?
Although official guidelines suggest faster turnarounds, security clearances and immigration checks for Bangladeshi applicants usually take between 4 to 8 weeks to reach the final eVAL download stage. To avoid missing your orientation, we strongly advise starting your application at least 3 to 4 months prior to your target intake.
Can I work part-time while studying in Malaysia?
Yes, but under strict regulations. International students are legally permitted to work up to 20 hours per week, but only during semester breaks or official holidays lasting longer than 7 days. You are not allowed to work during active academic semesters without special permission from the immigration department.
Can I transfer my credits to the UK, USA, or Australia later?
Absolutely. One of the biggest advantages of studying in Malaysia is the "twinning" or credit-transfer system (such as 1+2 or 2+1 programs). You can complete one or two years of your degree in Malaysia and seamlessly transfer your credits to a partner university in the UK, Australia, or the USA to finish your degree and gain a Western credential at a fraction of the total cost.
