FAQ

Got questions? Explore my FAQ section to find the information you need to help you get started on your journey to UK from Bangladesh

Can I bring my spouse or children with me on a UK Student Visa?
Under UKVI regulations, international students enrolled in standard undergraduate or taught Master’s programs are not permitted to bring dependants to the UK. Dependant visas are strictly restricted to students enrolled in postgraduate research programs (such as PhD or MPhil degrees) or government-sponsored courses.
How much money must I show for my visa, and which Bangladeshi banks are accepted?
You must demonstrate sufficient funds to cover your remaining first-year tuition fees plus mandatory living expenses. For universities inside London, the living cost requirement is £1,570 per month (totaling £14,130 for 9 months). For universities outside London, it is £1,203 per month (totaling £10,827 for 9 months). These funds must be held in your account or a parent's account for at least 28 consecutive days without dipping below the required balance. The money must be deposited in a UKVI-approved financial institution in Bangladesh, such as BRAC Bank, Eastern Bank, City Bank, Standard Chartered, HSBC, Mutual Trust Bank, or Dhaka Bank.
Is it possible to apply to UK universities without an IELTS score?
Yes. While many universities require IELTS (typically 6.0 for Undergraduate and 6.5 for Postgraduate), several partner institutions accept alternative English proficiency tests like PTE Academic, TOEFL, OIETC, or Duolingo. Some universities also accept a Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate if your previous degree was taught entirely in English, though specific university eligibility rules apply.
What are my legal work rights during and after my studies in the UK?
While enrolled in a full-time degree program, you are legally permitted to work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during official university vacation periods. After completing your degree, you can apply for the Graduate Route (Post-Study Work Visa), which grants you a 2-year open work permit (3 years for PhD graduates) to live and work in the UK.
What are the leading causes of visa refusal for Bangladeshi students, and how can I avoid them?
The primary reasons for visa refusals include: Failing the UKVI Credibility Interview due to a lack of detailed knowledge about the chosen course, modules, or career plans. Submitting bank statements from non-approved financial institutions or failing the 28-day balance requirement. Unexplained or unevidenced academic study gaps. Applying from UGC-blacklisted private universities in Bangladesh.
